WooSox Rewards program gives special deals in Worcester Canal District

WORCESTER – When a number of Canal District businesses locked up their kitchens

WORCESTER – When a number of Canal District businesses locked up their kitchens and bars for good last fall, some business owners pointed to Polar Park as the reason foot traffic was struggling before and after games.

Since then, some new businesses have opened in the district and the Worcester Red Sox are trying to help them grow.

WooSox Rewards, a program launched March 1 that lets participants stack up points to make purchases inside the stadium, can now be used at businesses outside.

In a news release, team president Dr. Charles A. Steinberg said that this would be an effort to "try to work with each business to see how we can best help them."

As of Monday, the app has 15,585 members.

The list of 15 businesses where users can apply their points includes everything from bookshops to bars.

-On Water Street, Boland's Bar and Patio and 107 Tap are offering special menus for app users. Steel & Wire on Millbury Street is offering an exclusive cocktail menu.

-The District Wood Fired Kitchen on Harding Street is providing discounts on select items.

-Bedlam Book Café, a Green Street book shop that is also known for its coffee shop section, will offer 10% off rotating monthly smoothie specials and 15% off baseball books.

-At its Green Street storefront location, The Pie Store at Table Talk Pies will offer three 4-inch pies for $1 and $1 off any pie shake.

-Evolve Fitness and Training is giving users a $5 day pass, 10% off apparel and supplements, and 10% off personal training sessions. Thomas Rothwell Spa will give 20% off massages, facials and spray tans.

-Those with a sweet tooth can use their points at Bri's Sweet Treats, where they will get 5% off any item. Those who spend $50 or more will receive a free T-shirt.

-BirchTree Bread Co., Creative Cakes Café, Crompton Collective and Suzette Creperie are offering loyalty points with purchases of their products.

-Haberdash, a boutique shop that shares a building with Crompton Collective, will give a 10% discount for those who present a game ticket.

-Scoop Drip, a clothing store on Millbury Street known for its sneaker selection, will give 5% off select T-shirts.
